AP to host Aquaex 2020, to showcase Indian Fisheries Growth

Aquaex India 2020 from February 6-8th is hosted by Aqua Farming Technologies and Solutions (AFTS) in collaboration with the Society for Indian Fisheries & Aquaculture, Hyderabad (SIFA) with support from the Government of India and Department of Fisheries – Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.

Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh:  February, 01, 2020: The 3rd edition of International Trade and Technology event on Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture will be held from 6th Feb to 8th Feb, at Radha Krishna Convention Center, Peda Amiram, Bhimavaram.

Touted to be South Asia’s largest aqua conclave, with 25000 plus participants confirmation, the three-day event will see leading exhibitors from the Fishery and Aquaculture Industry across the world showcasing their expertise to the visitors.

Aquaex India, will parallelly host Aquaex Knowledge Conclave, a technical seminar to deliberate about technology, innovations, policy issues, processing and marketing pertaining to the sector. Curated by Dr. C. K. Murthy, an avid scientist and former Executive Director at NFDB, Hyderabad, this knowledge sharing conclave will have eminent speakers and leaders of this industry discuss on pertinent issues, topics and growth, allied with Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).

Explaining the significance of this event and the purpose of this global event V Ramachandra Raju, President, SIFA said “Though the Indian Fisheries & Aquaculture is growing steadily over the years, industry needs support in terms of new technologies, new species, quality inputs, efficient equipment, machinery, better services, quality manpower, and efficient marketing to further increase the fish production and productivity to result in profitability and sustainability. Through this platform, we hope to address and to a large extent help solve these issues.”

The fisheries sector provides employment, income and livelihood for about 16 million people in the country. The fish production has increased from 0.75 MMT in 1950-51 to about 14 MMT during 2018-19. India’s shrimp production expected to touch 1 Million Metric Tonnes in few years continue to dominate exports to US Markets.

Over the years the focus has shifted from capture fisheries to aquaculture. During the last four decades, aquaculture emerged as the major source for increasing fish production and farmers from Andhra Pradesh have led the way by making it, the single largest state for fisheries production in India.
