GangStars is set to become the first regional Amazon series starring actors Jagpathi Babu, Navdeep, Swetha Basu, Sidhu Jonnalagadda, Apoorva Arora, Posani Krishna Murali and Sivaji. Jagpathi plays a gangster who has been diagnosed with cancer, while Navdeep plays a megalomaniac actor. The main characters in this series try to make a film and how things go out of hand will make for a hilarious watch.
Shwetha Basu Prasad plays the role of a ‘pain in the a** actor* and accompanying her is ‘a wannabe director, a wannabe producer, a crazy producer. The gangster becomes a part of the movie industry to make a film and ends up getting caught in a web of crazy artistes. He is pushed to an extreme and begins to blackmail the filmmakers to complete the film quickly. After all, with his advanced stage of cancer, he has only a few months to live.
Produced by Silly Monks Entertainment and Early Monsoon Tales (a web division of Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house that made Mahanati), this series is the second Indian Amazon Prime original after R Madhavan and Amit Sadh’s thriller, Breathe.
